well worn paving stones
Well worn paving stones glowing in the evening light
A bubble bursts
Do you occasionally have such an experience: you are lost in your own little world of ideas and thoughts and suddenly something catches your eye, and for a moment the thoughts have gone and you are here with what is, transfixed, enchanted? The real world is enchanting. What is, in the moment, around us is magical, a mystery. Instead of just dwelling in this mystery, we try to explain it, and in trying to explain it, we move from this magical reality, into our little bubble world of thoughts, where we can feel comfortable, secure, in control. It is all an illusion, a game of the thinking mind, going nowhere, just a big bubble, growing day-by-day, year-by-year, waiting to burst.
The well worn paving stones – they speak of timelessness and of pilgrims who have trodden this path before you. And the evening light, after a long day’s walk, is so warm and welcoming. Holding onto that bubble is taking so much energy, sapping one, draining one. So perhaps today, perhaps now, is the time for that great bubble to burst. Ahh.
