truth is found in silence
Truth is found in silence
Have you noticed how rare silence has become? Have you noticed how there is noise almost everywhere, almost all the time? Here I am not talking about natural noises – the noise of a waterfall, the noise of the wind in the trees – there is a deep silence within such natural noises. But we humans have found unnatural ways of creating noise: machines, vehicles, televisions and radios, music systems, loudspeakers. These are just a few of the things that create noise, and through such noise, silence is lost. Then there is talking, the endless chattering, mostly about things of no consequence. Even when the talking stops, our mind carries on, does it not, chattering away to itself with thoughts, almost all of which are useless. This also is noise, noise generated by one’s own mind.
All of this, perhaps, would not be a problem if it were not for the simple fact that truth is found in silence. Truth is not a concept. Truth is not found in words. Truth is a deep stillness, a deep silence, and a spaciousness. It cannot be put into words. It can be felt. It can be lived in the moment, but only when silence has come.
