This moment is gorgeous

Sitting here doing nothing, just listening to the sounds, the sounds of birds calling, chatter of people in the background, feeling the slight breeze against my skin, the breath gently entering and leaving my body, and the beautiful sensations of energy within my body: what a gift this moment is. And all I need do to receive this gift, is bring my attention to the present moment. It's so simple. And life is showering us with moments such as this, sacred moments, ordinary moments, gorgeous moments.

Unfortunately, of course, many people miss the moment. When we are caught up with our thoughts, we lose our presence. Our attention is no longer with this moment. And the gift, though it is being presented to us, is missed.

Staying with this moment is an art, and it takes a little practice to get the hang of it. But it's not so difficult really. It's like relaxing when being given a massage. All we need to do is receive this moment, allow existence to stroke us gently in whatever way it chooses, in the moment. We need only receive. We need to be open, and remain with our awareness on what is happening right now, our senses: the smells and tastes, the sight, the sounds, the touch sensations, the energy sensations within the body – so simple. And if we do this, there's a chance also that our awareness may go even deeper, deeper into our being. And perhaps it might reach the core, the very centre of our being, where there is a divine stillness, a great silence, even whilst our ears are picking up sounds, we can feel that deep silence that pervades the whole of existence. And in that place we also find a great spaciousness, unbounded, infinite. This is who we really are. There is no story to it. There is no personality in it. And yet visiting this place within us is a homecoming.
