sip of tea
A little hot water
Leaves unfurling
A pause
Steeping
Sipping
Delight
Tea making and tea drinking is a delight and if for a moment we can find the innocence of a child within ourself, then the process of making tea is a miracle. Who would suspect that these small, curled up, dried up leaves could contain the secret of such an elixir as tea? So pouring a little hot water on some tea leaves and watching them unfurl is a delight in itself. Then of course the real delight comes when we sip the tea, when we taste it. This is not only true of tea, but of everything in life. If we can really allow ourselves to taste life, every small moment becomes a delight to be savoured, to be rolled around on the tongue, to have all the juice squeezed out of it, so that we may become intoxicated by the moment, and by that sip of tea.
