moment without thoughts

A moment without thoughts

Is a moment of being

Have you ever looked at your busy mind? Have you ever considered how noisy it is, noisy with thoughts, thoughts coming one upon the next, higgledy piggledy, non-stop, all day long.

This is the experience of most people. Their waking experience is one of thoughts, ceaseless thoughts. But when we are caught up in our thoughts, when we are busy with them, we are not really living. We are not experiencing the present moment. We are not present in ourself. We are not being.

And so it is of paramount importance that we have moments without thoughts. Such a moment is the greatest gift. When our senses are functioning, when we are awake, alert, aware, and yet not thinking, then the moment becomes delicious. Immediately and effortlessly we are at peace. And there is a great joy, a delight, that rises up within us. And this state of being is what I call meditation. We are completely nourished by such moments. Existence pours into us, and all we do is to receive, without any effort.

So take a moment, take a moment right now to put your thoughts aside, and allow silence to fill your being. With it there is a divine stillness. And in that silence and stillness there is also an unbounded spaciousness. In this space there is no I, there is no need of me, a concept, no more. So give yourself this gift, the only gift that is needed, a moment of silence, a moment without thoughts, a moment of being.
