blank page
Can we start every day as a blank page?
Can we? Can we move through life forever feeling new, with clean eyes, not carrying baggage from yesterday? Can we do this? Can we drop all the little hurts, the suffering that we have felt one day? Can it end as we go to bed at night? Can we let go of it all, let it pass? And wake up the next day fresh, clean, innocent, with the naivety of a child. For only in such blankness can we really meet life.
It is only through this emptiness that we can see things as they are, and welcome them. For if we are carrying baggage from days gone by, we will not really be open to life, and we will not really see it as it is. We will be seeing everything, meeting everything, through the filter of past pleasures and pains. These will colour everything. And we cannot live in truth if we are trying to meet life through our memories. So this is the challenge, to start every day as a blank page, carte blanche, and allow life to create something new every day. Every day a new chapter, unrelated to what has gone before, every day fresh. Indeed, ultimately we can meet every moment of life in this way, untainted, moment to moment, living the moment totally, and then letting it go; not allowing it to leave a stain, not carrying some injury to be regurgitated at a later time, to be projected where it has no place. If we live totally, in the moment, meeting it cleanly without prejudice, then we can also let go of the moment, allow it to pass, whether pleasurable or painful. This way we can meet the next moment, again as a blank page, without expectation, without fear. This is the way to be alive.
So, my friends, can we do it? Can we start every day as a blank page?
