as if making love
Can we live every moment as if we are making love?
Sitting, listening to birdsong, can we open to it, be totally present with it, allow it to penetrate us as a woman allows a man to penetrate her? Swimming in the ocean, can we plunge into the ocean totally, with abandonment? Can we dissolve into the ocean, disappear into the ocean as a man disappears into a woman? Lying on the beach in the sunshine, can we bask in the sunshine, can we allow the heat to soak into us, can we open to it, melt with the heat as a woman melts in the arms of her lover?
Walking in the forest, deep in its mystery, can we lose ourself there? Can we give ourselves totally to the trees, to the plants and animals of the forest? Can we give ourselves totally? Smelling a flower, can we allow its fragrance to flood through us, to penetrate us? Can we allow that sacred smell of the flower to penetrate to our very being? Can we receive it as a womb receives the essence of a man? Can we live this way, penetrating existence in every moment as a man penetrates a woman; and also opening, receiving God in every little gift of life, as a woman opens and receives a man?
Can we live every moment as if we are making love in both the masculine and the feminine, with totality, not holding anything back but giving our all? This is surely the way to live, as if every moment we are making love with existence.
