try lying down in a meadow
Wait for a warm, sunny day. And go and find a meadow: a meadow of long grass, with some flowers too, if you are lucky. If you can find a meadow away from the noises of humankind, so much the better. Kick off your shoes and lie down in the grass. Make yourself comfortable. Relax.
This is such a natural thing to do. I'm sure we've all done it, at least when we were young. And those things that we did quite naturally when we were young, but have somehow grown out of, we would do well to grow back into. And this is one such thing: lying down in the long grass of a meadow. Not with any aim in mind. Not trying to achieve anything. Not going anywhere. With no rush, no time constraint. Just relaxing in a sunny meadow. Doing nothing.
You can close your eyes and allow your thoughts to drift away. Or you can open your eyes and look at the grass from this unusual perspective, as it stands over you, perhaps blowing gently in the breeze.
Meadows are beautiful places – open spaces, yet full of life. And just lying there, we are nurtured. Some of the energy of that wild life comes into us. Just being there helps to take us back into our natural way of being: a relaxed way, without the stresses and strains which are generated by too much thinking.
So spend a while in the meadow, doing nothing, with nothing to achieve, just relaxing.
