effortless

There is an effortless way to be. By this I mean, psychologically we can reach a state where we are not struggling with life; we are not struggling against life. Of course, physical exertion may still be needed from time to time but the mental effort of trying to understand life, and understand what we should be doing; this mental effort can come to an end. Perhaps unexpectedly, when the mind is functioning without this effort, without this struggle, then the mind functions more efficiently and life becomes much easier.

This effortless way of being comes hand in hand with the sense of choicelessness which the enlightened ones feel. For it is the burden of feeling that one has choices to make; this burden is what saps our energy and feels like an effort. So as the mind reaches a deep understanding that life is not controlled by the mind; that the mind is there to respond to life, rather than dominate it; as we let go of this controlling way of being and enter a state of choicelessness, so life begins to have an effortless quality to it. We are flowing with life rather than battling against it. This effortless flowing is an easy way of being; we are at ease in the world, with the world; we are at ease as the world, not separate from it. For that separation is no different than the struggle against. So, when we are no longer struggling against life, we no longer feel separate from it. With that non-separation, we feel ourselves whole, complete, at ease, regardless of where life is taking us. This whole dance becomes effortless and we can enjoy it to the full.

So, my friends, let go of the need to try to control things and allow your life to become effortless. Enter this joyful way of being, where every moment is full of peace; when you are at ease for eternity; and when life is fully savoured, without energy being wasted through effort.
