being oneself

The enlightened state of being, way of being, is really the simplest way of being. It is being oneself, as one is, without any need to change anything in oneself. This comes with a total acceptance of all that one is: no longer judging oneself; no longer feeling guilty and shameful; no longer feeling inadequate or unworthy; just accepting that this is the way one is. Then one is free to be that, to be oneself and not strive to become something that one is not; not struggle to meet the expectations of society, of family.

Ordinarily, it is as if we are all squeezing into ill-fitting suits, for the sake of appearances, in order to feel accepted, in order to feel loved. All this drops away. Feeling one’s wholeness, one’s integrity, there is no need to seek acceptance; there is no need to seek love, even. Love will flow but not coming from a space of inadequacy, of need. No. You are perfect as you are. And when one can feel the perfection of all that is, outwith and within, then being in the world becomes a joyful thing, an easy thing, effortless. Then one is like a small child, or even an animal, just being, without any concern for what one should be. There is a great trust in the whole process of existence. This is what I am, as I am, right now. Even though I might not understand, with my mind, all the workings of the universe, still this strange little part that I call me, somehow has a role to play. But that role does not require effort. It requires a relaxation into myself, as I am. This – this being oneself – is such a relief after long years of struggling against oneself.

Feel your wholeness and be, be yourself.
