seagull
I am sitting in a bar, on a hillside overlooking the sea. It is the evening, perhaps one hour until sunset. There is a beautiful warm light landing on the earth, and today the sea is calm and the air is clear. And from this hillside, it seems I can see forever.
And through this gentle, relaxing scene, a seagull just passed. It was gliding, without a single flap of its wings, and from where I sat, it was exactly on the demarcation between sea and sky. It sailed past, effortlessly, silently, as if to mark that point at which the sky touches the sea. It was highlighting it. And for me this is a magical point. The sky represents our spirituality, and the sea and the land, our earthiness, our humanity. And as human beings, the art is to live in both these worlds, in the sea and in the sky, equally, in a balanced way. And this is what this seagull highlighted to me just now.
