creaking bamboo

I'm standing in a wood next to a thicket of bamboo and it's a rather windy day. And every time a gust of wind comes, the bamboo sways, and as it sways it creaks. It rather reminds me of some wooden ship at sea, creaking as the waves pass.

Watching and listening to this bamboo, I'm reminded that we too, as humans, need to sway with the wind. Life is not a rigid thing, and if we are too rigid in ourself, we will merely snap. If our ideas are too rigid, if our beliefs are too rigid, our mind will snap. So we should learn from this bamboo, and remember to sway, to be flexible, to not get too hung up on our thoughts, our beliefs, our concepts, but rather to bend and flex as is needed by the circumstances of the day. This is a much more realistic way to be in life. And it allows us to be more alive. If we become too rigid, we become dead.

So let's join with this creaking bamboo, and allow ourself to move with the rhythm of life.
