buzz of bees

I am on a path, a path that I have walked many times over the last month, but today something is different. There is a buzz, the buzz of bees. This sound, when I close my eyes and really listened to it without thinking about it, it creates a certain bubbly joy inside me. It feels like a sound of spring, a sound of activity as the year warms up. And listening to this new sound, it is reminding me that, in nature, everything has its time.

We humans seem to be always trying to cheat nature. We want to eat strawberries at Christmastime. We want to be warm in the middle of winter. We want to be cool in the heat of summer. We are always going against nature, it seems. And in particular, with regard to time, we either expect things to be available all the year round, continuously, or we want something immediately, right now, whether or not it is the right time.

And these bees, suddenly popping into existence as they have done today, are reminding me of the natural rhythm, that things come in their own time. And so it is on our spiritual journey. We might be impatient, we might want some transformation to day, but if we are not ripe, if the time has not come, it simply won't happen yet.

What we can do, though, is to have a deep trust that the time will come. The day will come when suddenly our whole being is transformed. Perhaps we too will be buzzing like these bees. One day when the time is right, we will flower. That is what these bees are reminding me of today.
